Every pupil has a comprehensive pupil passport which captures their strengths, interests, sensory differences, communication preferences, and personalised strategies for support. These profiles are regularly reviewed in partnership with families and professionals, ensuring a collaborative approach to understanding and meeting individual needs.

Our specialist curriculum pathways provide a rich, engaging, and meaningful learning experience tailored to each pupil's individual needs. Through our curriculum, pupils develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to lead safe, happy, and increasingly independent lives. Preparation for Adulthood is woven throughout all areas of learning, supporting pupils to develop independence, personal resilience, communication skills, community awareness, and the confidence to make informed choices about their future. 

We take a 'therapy first' approach.  Our Therapy Team works collaboratively with education and pastoral staff to ensure that therapeutic strategies are embedded within everyday experiences, creating consistent support across learning, communication, emotional wellbeing, physical development, and independence. We place a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing and self-regulation, helping pupils to understand themselves, develop coping strategies, and build positive relationships with others.

Our expertise in communication and interaction enables pupils to develop meaningful connections with others and engage confidently in the world around them. Through our physical and sensory curriculum, pupils learn to understand and regulate their sensory needs, develop resilience, and access a wide range of experiences that prepare them for life beyond Springfields.

We believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. Through a wide range of enrichment opportunities, community-based experiences, educational visits, and meaningful real-world learning opportunities, pupils are supported to develop confidence, independence, social understanding, and a sense of belonging within their local and wider communities. These opportunities are carefully aligned with our Enrichment Pillars, ensuring that every pupil benefits from experiences that broaden horizons, supports personal growth, and prepare them for a fulfilling adult life.
