PE

Intent:
To build safe, independent lives for autistic young people through support, understanding and enablement.
Implementation:
Our PE Pathway aims to inspire all children to develop a love of physical activity and sport. Through good physical education, whole school values and a whole child approach, we aim to nurture confident, resilient children who will strive for their personal best. We listen to our children wants and needs and provide them with a range of active experiences and qualifications.
Our PE pathway department is dedicated to offering all students a broad and balanced curriculum that challenges and supports each individual in a safe and secure environment. Students will have the chance to work both independently and as part of a team across a variety of activities and in alignment with the National Curriculum Framework and our range of qualifications pupils will experience sports in multiple roles, including participant, coach, and official. We employ a diverse range of teaching methods to ensure that our lessons are enjoyable, challenging, and engaging for students of all abilities.
We offer a variety of trips and visits to build on the students’ cultural capital and focus on their personal development. The PE Pathway has recently run trips to watch England play football at Wembley, visit Bath University to look at their Sports and Exercise science lab and have talks from people working in different sectors from coachers to sports players to people who have set up their own gym. This is with the aim to prepare them for an appropriate post 16 course that enables them to achieve their career goals.
Impact:
All pupils leave with multiple recognised qualification in PE/Sport at their level of challenge. As everything we do at Springfields is underpinned by pupils personal development all pupils are aware of the potential post 16 course and future career pathways open to them once they leave school. They understand the accessible options available to them in the local community to lead a safe, independent, healthy and active lifestyle.
