Implementation

At The Springfields Academy, we are dedicated to empowering our students through practical skills that prepare them for a successful transition into adulthood. Our Business Studies Pathway offers an engaging curriculum focused on essential business concepts: enterprise, marketing, finance, and administration. This program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue a rewarding future in the world of business.

Our Business Studies Pathway offers a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses a range of practical and theoretical learning experiences:

• Enterprise: Students explore the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, including business planning, product development, and customer engagement. They participate in mini-enterprise projects to apply their learning in real-world contexts.
• Marketing: This component introduces students to branding, advertising, and market research. They learn how to promote products and services effectively, developing creativity and strategic thinking.
• Finance: Students gain an understanding of budgeting, pricing, and financial decision-making. They work on projects that involve managing money, forecasting costs, and evaluating profitability.
• Administration: Students develop key office and organisational skills, including communication, record-keeping, and digital literacy. These skills are essential for success in a wide range of business environments.

Linked to Preparation for Adulthood

Our Business Studies Pathway is closely aligned with our preparation for adulthood strategy, focusing on:

• Life Skills Development: In addition to business knowledge, students build essential life skills such as time management, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are vital for independent living.
• Workplace Readiness: Through simulated business environments and enterprise projects, students gain practical experience that prepares them for future employment or further education in business-related fields.

Hands-On Learning Experience

Students engage in practical learning through:

• Enterprise Projects: Students plan and run small business ventures, gaining experience in decision-making, customer service, and financial management.
• Simulated Office Environments: Our learning spaces replicate real-world business settings, allowing students to practice administrative and communication skills under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Community Engagement

We believe in the importance of community connections. Our program includes:

• Guest Speakers: Local business professionals share their experiences, inspiring students and providing valuable insights into career paths and industry expectations.

Impact beyond Springfields:

This is a new pathway that was implemented due to pupil voice and we will look to monitor its impact. Currently we are proud that we have a track record of 0% NEET over the last six years.
